We are impaired / hurt by relationships but are repaired / healed through relationships. The hope with group therapy is to experience healing in the context of other people through connecting points of story, emotion, and growth. It is a powerful setting to really help us move beyond our comfort zone. So many times we think we need to step really far to grow thereby creating a lot of pressure on ourselves, rather than just taking the small visible step right in front of us. Group therapy allows you to process your struggles such as addiction, relationship struggles, and trauma.

Group is a great place between individual and couples therapy. Group therapy in so many ways is a bridge between the two. Group helps us take small yet powerful steps in the direction of deepening ourselves in relationships. The main platform / structure that is used in group is Emotionally Focused Therapy. Sue Johnson describes emotion as movement. We use emotion to help us connect with ourselves so we can then connect with others. Kenny Sanderfer often describes EFT as connection vs correction. This is the heart of EFT groups.
